Papercuts and Postcards

Hello everyone, I'm Lauren from Sewing Me, Sewing You. I thought I'd drop by to post some ideas I want to work on for Christmas prezzies - so far they are only ideas and I haven't actually got round to starting any of them.

The first one is papercutting. I saw an article in the Guardian about Rob Ryan and fell in love with what he does. I'd like to try my hand at paper cutting, though with a much simpler design than his which are like this...

I also like this from Green Chair Press blog...

The second idea was to create a set of personalised postcards, by buying plain blank ones and drawing, stencilling or decorating the postcards while leaving the address/message side blank for the recipient of the present to use, thus spreading the joy to others!

I'll post some pics if I manage to do either!

  1. The paper cuts are a great idea and the set of personalised postcards too. You made me think of doing personalised labels for re-using envelopes as I have lots and lots of sticky labels courtesy of a lady from Freecycle. I don't know where you are based geographically but if you are anywhere near Stafford there is a Rob Ryan exhibition there (at the Shirehall gallery, you can google it) starting on saturday till january. I hope to get there and see his papercuts in "real life".

  2. Ooh thank you I didn't know that! I'm about an hour away so I could give it a visit on a rainy afternoon. Yay!

  3. I really like the personalized postcards idea. My dad sends me old postcards almost weekly. I love receiving them and I save them in a tin. I think that anyone would love to get some handmade cards to send out some scribbles to their favorite people!
