I've only started sewing in the last few months, so this is the first year I will be making gifts for Christmas, but wow, what a great feeling to make rather than buy!
So far, I have made the following:
1. Mini tie t-shirts for my friends boys. Using thrifted mens neckties, cut to size, ironed and machine stitched into place:
2. Chalk mats made from thrifted fabric:

3. Plastic bag holder/dispensers made from vintage teatowels:
I've made a doily rosette for my sister in law too, but I forgot to take a picture before I posted it to the UK, doh!
I am constantly inspired by reading all of your wonderful ideas on Crafty Christmas Club!
Like what you have done ! ..and say the same, I am also constantly inspired by reading about all this ideas here! Love it :)
ReplyDeleteI particularly love those chalk mats - what a great idea! I have quite a few little people to give presents to and am inspired to have a go. Are there any handy tips for making these/possible pitfalls?!
ReplyDeleteHi Wanda, I havent had too much trouble with the chalk mats at all, the only tricky thing was sourcing the chalk mat fabric, I only found one Australian supplier and that was ordering online, but if you're based in the US (?) there are plenty of suppliers I believe. Good luck with trying it out, they have been a success so far with birthday gifts I have made!
ReplyDeleteThanks Erica :) I'm in the UK and have seen the chalk mat fabric in one online fabric shop. I'll be adding these to a very long list of makes that I hope to do even though time is running away!
