Only a little crafty but a lot Christmasy

Here's the shoe box gift we prepared this year.  For those of you who aren't familiar, lots of UK charities organise shoe box deliveries to children in Eastern Europe who will receive no other gifts.  Decorating and packing the box has become a Christmas tradition for us.  When we imagine the child opening the stash of pens, pencils, stickers, note pads, bracelets and toiletries we feel very humble and very, very fortunate.  It's the best start possible to the festive season.

  1. I agree - that's the BEST start possible to the festive season - very inspirational!

  2. Hi Sandra, not sure what your Canadian equivalent might be. Our local organiser hires lorries and drives to Romanian children's hospitals with the boxes. It's a wonderful example of small kindnesses can combine to make a huge difference.

  3. We used to do these at my last work place - everyone would contribute different things rather than filling their own box and we'd make up and fill as many boxes as we could together in a couple of lunch hours. As I'm no longer there, I need to find somewhere else where I can donate the mittens and scarves I knit for it earlier in the year.

  5. Amazing! Is there any possibility to foreign people to join this nice project?
